We’re settling in to our spot at 50 Point Conservation Area & Marina in Winona, ON – between Stoney Creek and Grimsby – perfectly located on the shores of Lake Ontario. The real reason we’re here is there are so few places in Ontario that are open before May 1st. 50 Point was scheduled to open April 1st but even it was delayed a week due to wet conditions. Those of us counting our allotment of days in the US might need to spend time in various Walmarts or “drive-way surfing” at friends and family waiting out the weather and park openings.
We left the Newmar factory and we had 1 more stop in Grand Rapids, MI before crossing into Canada. We bought our coach at Midway RV in Grand Rapids, a smaller east coast dealer – and picked it up on June 28th, 2014. We had asked for an upgrade which they agreed to do, however, the parts would not be available until mid-July so we would have to come back. Not a problem – we REALLY wanted that upgrade.
We unplugged Sunday at 9 a.m. and “boon docked/dry camped” the entire day. We made coffee, watched the Masters all afternoon, had lights on as required and we were battery powered until 7 p.m. when the generator automatically started up when I was in the shower. Yeah – 10 hours of battery power AND the AGS starts up!
“The Dance” has ended with a curtsy and a bow…
Haha – the entry steps required a new motor! We were right! Both the motor and connections are exposed to the elements so, apparently, this time, all connections have been sealed with silicone.
Well, they left the most difficult and most puzzling problem to the last!
Up at 5:30, shower & dress, make the bed, gather laptops, phones and camera, pack dog treats, water and kitty bed, bring in the slides, raise the jacks, start the engine, move out, in the service bay at 6:30 a.m.
C: Let’s go for breakfast.
J: At 7 a.m.? I can’t eat – it’s too early! Let’s just drive around – again…
J: I never knew it was still dark at 7:30. What time is sunrise?
C: Google it.
J: It’s too early!
We’re in Elkhart County – specifically Nappanee, Indiana – home of Newmar and birthplace of this magnificent mechanical mobile mansion!
It’s been 2 years since we had seen these gorgeous grandchildren (Jagger, Molly & Katie) and their beautiful Mom – Kathryn. I just love this lifestyle where we can drive to their home town of Poplar Bluff, MO – overnight for 10 nights in an rv park that we had pretty much to ourselves, sleep in our own bed, and everyone gets to go home…
