Christmas in Carmel, CA

…has a nice ring to it don’t you think?

We wanted to stay in Santa Barbara but there was no room at the Inn. The few RV parks around there did not meet our expectations.

Making our way to Southern California we spent 1 night in Bodega Bay at a marina; 2 nites in Napa at the fairgrounds (a very nice place to stay); 1 night at Marina Dunes and we’ll be here for Christmas. The Marina Dunes RV park was beautiful had spacious sites, right on the ocean and we were hoping to stay there for Christmas but 4 lanes of Hwy 101 was right behind us and the noise was deafening. So…as we are able to do… we moved 30 miles south to Carmel.

The RV park in Carmel is secluded, rustic, small, and very quiet but, we are in a great location. Monterey Bay, 17 Mile Drive, Pebble Beach, Carmel-by-the Sea, Pacific Grove and Big Sur are all just a short drive away.

We love driving across the Golden Gate Bridge and through San Francisco and this time was no exception. We had visions of a crystal clear sunny day for our 5th trip across the bridge and our 1st in the coach.  We even planned on me walking across and taking pictures/video of Chuck driving the coach!  Mother Nature had other plans.  One of our favourite memories is crossing the Bridge at sunset. I would not use spectacular as a descriptive this time!  Just 5 minutes off the bridge and we were in blue sky and sunshine!

Our southern route took us to Cupertino – home of APPLE! We parked in the employees parking lot (couldn’t fit in the visitors lot!), we walked the Infinite loop and shopped in the Company Store.   While the Company Store has all of the APPLE hardware on display you can’t purchase it.  The store is full of swag branded APPLE.  Chuck bought a T-shirt and I bought a carry bag to house all of our APPLE products!  What a place – and what a thrill!

Our plans for Christmas are simple – a candle light Christmas Eve service is top of the list. We have so much to be grateful for – including friends and family following this blog.

Our very best wishes to you and your families this holiday season.

Merry Christmas!

  1. Oh how we envy you! We are reliving our Cali trips through your descriptions. Please send us pics of Pacific Grove sunsets and the Monarch butterfly sculptures…
I hope these comments get posted as my previous attempts failed miserably.

  2. I’m with Alice, envy is exactly what I’ve been feeling all week! As I was wrapping gifts last night I was thinking of the Christmas Alex and I enjoyed with you guys in Canada. Great memories! I’m curious, have you decorated the tree?

    Merry Christmas!

  3. So glad you are having a great time and great trip. You are always on my mind. I’ve got Willie on my shoulder! Glad your Christmas was great. I just found this blog this morning Jan 2. I am so far behind, guess I’ll have to stop knitting for a while to catch up. Happy Motoring to you both and we love your pictures.
