2 Years is just way too long!

It’s been 2 years since we had seen these gorgeous grandchildren (Jagger, Molly & Katie) and their beautiful Mom – Kathryn.  I just love this lifestyle where we can drive to their home town of Poplar Bluff, MO – overnight for 10 nights in an rv park that we had pretty much to ourselves, sleep in our own bed, and everyone gets to go home…

It was an amazingly busy visit starting with a tour and Grade 2 concert at the girl’s school – Eugene Field Elementary School – a Leader In Me school.

Based on the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (Dr. Stephen R. Covey) the Leader In Me program equips students with the self-confidence and skills they need to thrive today and tomorrow.  The 7 habits being instilled are:

  • Be Proactive
  • Begin with the End in Mind
  • Put First Things First
  • Think Win-Win
  • Seek First to Understand.  Then to be Understood
  • Synergize
  • Sharpen the Saw

Just some of the images we saw around their school halls:

The concert’s theme was the 7 habits and Katie even had an on-stage intro describing a win-win situation.  She did great!   Their songs were also originally written and choreographed to describe the 7 habits.

A great concert and a great school program!  I was so impressed with this teaching/learning concept and couldn’t help wondering where we would all be today if we had this wonderful program yesterday…

Two years is just way too long – and, hopefully, won’t happen again!  We do have the time and the means – just not enough days in the USA …

Wow, you’re right! Holy those are skills that would work much better for most of us than Biology, Chemistry, Finite Math, like seriously where have they got me??? Everybody needs more self confidence and MORE positive reinforcement, I love the idea too.
