Since leaving Toronto the end of July we’ve pretty much known where we’re going and what we’re doing – right up to and including the Rose Parade. Now that it’s over – now what?
We left Pasadena on the 2nd and drove about 45 minutes to the East Shore Recreational Vehicle Park in San Dimas, CA. Our plans were to stay 1 night and then move on to our next destination – Indio, CA.
But, this was a pretty nice place! Approximately 300 sites, on a lake, big-rig friendly, full hook-ups (water, 50 amp electricity, sewer connection and cable), swimming pool, great hiking, etc.
We also needed to catch our breaths and catch up on chores (laundry, grocery shopping, another trip or 2 to AT&T, a COSTCO run, call Apple Tech Support) but, more importantly, we needed to wash the coach. The last time the coach was cleaned was September 14th in Nakusp, BC!
All campgrounds have their own set of rules & regulations but the most common rule “No Washing of RV’s” is usually at the top of the list. But, we were allowed to wash it here! We have the extension rods, brushes, buckets, tire cleaning stuff, ladder and dozens of cloths on board so with the cleaning solution recipe of hot water, 1/2 cup white vinegar and 1/4 cup baby shampoo we’re off. We finished one side and the front in 1 afternoon and the rear and other side the following morning. This thing is big and squeaky clean!
So, our 1 night stay turned into 5 and we’re now in hot & sunny Indio, CA. We’re here for another 5-day rally – the 27th Annual Western Area Rally of the Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) . This is more of a “learning” rally with seminars, RV exhibits, RV merchandise, and over 1000 RV’s of all makes, types & sizes parked here.
We’re planning on staying in this area for the next couple of weeks and our intentions are to explore Palm Springs, Desert Hot Springs, Joshua Tree National Park, Anzo-Borrego Desert State Park, Salton Sea, Chocolate Mountains, Imperial Sand Dunes – all before heading into Arizona.
But, we all know that our plans can change…
